One’s Feelings Waste Themselves in Words

“You ask me why I do not write something…. I think one’s feelings waste themselves in words, they ought all to be distilled into actions and into actions which bring results.”

This passage does not come from a published book by Florence Nightingale, but is a quote from a personal letter she wrote in 1844, which was later published in the biography The Life of Florence Nightingale (1913) by Sir Edward Tyas Cook. Page 94 of The Life of Florence Nightingale (Volume 1, 1913) written by Edward Tyas Cook.

Action over words: Florence Nightingale believed that spending too much time talking or writing about feelings wastes emotional energy.
Tangible results: She felt that true inner convictions must be transformed into physical, helpful deeds.
